Sunday School – Or Hatzafon offers a two-hour Sunday school class in which children ages 7–12 learn about holidays, heritage, and tefila, and do arts and crafts related to holidays or weekly Torah lessons. Depending on how many children are interested in enrolling, we sometimes have two classes, one for younger children and one for children training for their B’nai Mitzvah.
Holiday Celebrations – In addition to rabbi-led High Holiday services, Or Hatzafon features community-led celebrations for major Jewish holidays, including tashlich on Rosh Hashanah, a community break fast after Yom Kippur, a megillah reading and Purim play, seder on Pesach, Simchat Torah, and Chanuka, often in conjunction with the Sunday school but always open to the entire community.
Adult Classes – During the summer, our visiting rabbi or cantor offers a variety of adult learning classes, sometimes as single classes and sometimes as a sequence of several classes. In addition, occasional adult-learning classes are offered throughout the year, depending on community and instructor interest. See calendar.
